About Asics

Founded more than sixty years ago, ASICS is dedicated to developing sports clothing and products with the highest technology in the world. All the design, functionality and comfort found in its sneakers and clothing were conceived by its dedicated employees who work in its units, which are spread across several different countries.

In 1949, its founder Kihachiro Onitsuka established his sportswear business (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.), producing a tennis net in his personal dining room in Kobe, Japan. In 1977, he chose the name ASICS for his company based on the Latin proverb "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano", which, when translated, means "Sound Mind in a Sound Body".

In Latin America, its journey began in 2007 with the opening of the first ASICS subsidiary in São Paulo. There are now more than 16 independent stores in Brazil and a successful e-commerce operation with business partners.

Brazil's operations are coordinated in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru with offices in the locations and, soon, with private stores and online shopping throughout Brazil. Everything was only possible thanks to a group of individuals who were passionate about the power of movement in all spheres of life.
