AACD and the Telethon
Created in 1966 by actor Jerry Lewis in the United States, the telethon is now present in more than 20 countries around the world.
In Brazil, the brand has belonged to AACD for more than 20 years, airing for the first time in 1998. Its godfathers were presenter Hebe Camargo and presenter Silvio Santos. This position is currently held by singer Daniel and presenter Eliana.
The telethon is a television marathon shown annually by SBT, in partnership with the Association for Assistance to Disabled Children (AACD).
This program, which lasts almost 26 hours, is responsible for raising funds that help maintain the continuity of the charity work provided by the institution.
AACD currently has a significant number of patients, more than 500,000 throughout Brazil. With a team of approximately 1,900 employees, AACD guarantees a totally specialized service.
